I guess we were a little ahead of the game when we designed our 2011 Fall Wedding Dreams Bridal show booth and this fresh design for Rebecca and Tonis June 2011 wedding. Jackie and Matt will go down as one of the sweetest couples I have had the pleasure of working with! The vibrant and colourful palate of the wedding decor sums up Jackie's personality in a nut shell. I really do try my hardest to be at the reveal of each and every wedding we are given the honour of being a part of. Needless to say I was more than touched when Jackie burst into tears of joy upon first seeing the decor of the dinning room at Grey Stones Golf Course. I am actually a tiny bit emabaressed to say that after seeing how moved the bride was by our creations, my assistant and I were a little teary eyed ourselves. I am so grateful to be a part of making one of the most important days of a couples lifetime a beautiful event that they will always be able to cherish!

I was so happy to meet Caroline and Danny at The Wedding Dreams Bridal Show this past January. When they told me there wedding venue was Liuna Gardens in Grimsby Ontario we immediately connected as this is the venue we chose for our special day. The May fog and spring showers cleared literally hours before the couple were to exchange vows at Liuna's stunning water front garden. The wedding decor was a reflection of the modern and breath taking bride. The oyster and ivory head table was the perfect backdrop for the vibrant spa blue bridesmaids dresses that added just the right amount of sassy to the room. Do it Yourself Mondays {Honouring Rememberance Day}

I found this easy to make poppy on Fiber Arts and Quilting Blog. I thought in honour of Remembrance Day on Thursday, it would be the perfect DIY Project to feature.

What you will need:

needle and thread
black buttons or beads (She used a velvety bead from Michaels)
scraps of red fabric 10 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide
a pin back with holes to sew through

Directions:

1. fold the red fabric in half and iron wrong sides together.

2. open the fabric up and place the short ends together, right sides together. Sew a running stitch to connect the ends using about an 1/8 inch seam. This should make a fabric circle. Fold on the ironed fold line so wrong sides are together.

3. along the raw edge, use a double length of thread and strong knot, and sew a running stitch around the circle. Once you get to your starting point, pull to gather the circle up. Knot your thread and snip the tails of your thread.

4. Sew on your button or bead to the center of your poppy flower.

Do it Yourself Mondays {Something Blue in a Shoe}

Hello readers and thank you for faithfully checking in during my absence. The 2010 wedding season was a great success!!! Blogging was put on the back burner in order to give our weddings and events our undivided attention and creative designs. I have selected our readers favorite...DIY Monday's to begin our blogging blitz.

Please stay tuned for our featured 2010 Real weddings! I will be posting them as I receive the professional images form the talented photographers we were blessed to work with this wedding season.

Today we are featuring a very useful project featured on Green Wedding Shoes. To start your project you will need to find yourself the most comfortable pair of shoes–You will also need some nylon fishing line and silk chiffon fabric in the color and/or pattern of your choice! It is recommended to buy at least a yard so you have extra.

Next cut two pieces of fabric. 15″ x 13″ in length. Then fold the fabric in an accordion style with the 15″ length longest.

Take the fabric and tie a lose knot around the front of the shoe. This is why it’s important to use a shoe the has a narrow middle part in the front.

Next, cut four pieces of fishing line about 30″ long. Then push one side in so there is a nice small bump and wrap the fishing line around where my fingers are below. Tie in a knot on the underside so you won’t see it. Wrap the fishing line around again and knot again.

Do that again so you have two small sections on each side. And then repeat on the other side.

Once you have the first shoe done, go ahead and repeat on your second shoe. Once you have your shoes done, trim the ends so they match each other in length.

And there you go! Pretty shoes for your wedding day with a little something blue – easy to create and if you get tired of them, you can easily take off the fabric and use a different fabric!

Doit Yourself Monday {Vintage frame ~ table numbers}

If you are having a vintage, romantic, barnyard or even a traditional wedding, these vintage frame table settings are a perfect accent to your special day.

You will need:

1. Assortment of picture frames: You can re-purpose frames you may already own or look for vintage frames at second hand shops and flea markets. Look for a grouping that might share similar colors or styles but keep in mind that the eclectic and mismatched look is perfectly desirable. Medium sized frames are ideal for table numbers, while you might choose to use larger ones for signage.

2. Coordinating papers: Choose an assortment of papers to match the colors/theme of your wedding. Smaller prints are great for maximum legibility, but larger prints are adequate in a big enough frame.

3. Numbers: Get creative! You can find unfinished wooden letters at craft stores and paint them with acrylic craft paint (shown here for numbers 1 and 2). You can also opt to just cut numbers from contrasting scraps of paper (shown for numbers 3 and 5), or you can look for number stickers in the scrapbooking section of your craft store (shown for number 4).

4. Scissors
5. Pencil
6. Glue

Instructions:
1. Cut paper to size of frame using the frame backing as a guide.
2. Add a number. For numbers cut from paper use a glue stick to affix. Once dry, place in frame and replace backing. For three dimensional numbers you might have to remove the glass depending on the frame. A stronger tacky craft glue works best for attaching bulkier, wooden numbers.

Do it Yourself Mondays {Bridal Bird Cage}

Birdcage veils can be very chic and elegant...but also very expensive. Here is a quick and easy tutorial on how to make your own chic and affordable birdcage veil.

Materials Needed:

2 feet of 18" Russian Veiling, Comb, Thread and Needle, Ruler, Scissors

Birdcage veils are made out of Russian Netting or Russian Veiling which is a millinery material. You can usually find it at a really good fabric store or online.

The veiling usually comes in three lengths 9" 12" and 18".

If you just want a little coverage over your hair you want 9".

If you want it to cover your eyes, you'll want 12" and if you want it to cover your nose or chin you'll want the 18" veiling (cut it down to 16" to cover the nose.)

It comes in almost every color and you can also find veiling with chenille dots or pearls if you wanted to add embellishment in that way.

Important Note:

There are two sides of the veiling: finished and unfinished. You want the finished end to run across your face NOT the unfinished side.

Starting at point A start sewing in and out of the diamond shapes to gather the fabric. You'll continue sewing in and out on all sides until you get to point B.

Sew it to a hair comb.

After you attach it in your hair on the side of your head with bobby pins, then add an embellishment like a flower or feather to cover the comb.

Do it Yourself Monday's {Flower Umbrella}

I think this is such a beautiful and affordable idea to add a soft and romantic feel to your wedding ceremony. Thank you to One lovely day wedding blog for posting!

Simply rent a market umbrella (usually around $40) from a local rental company and cover the pole in greenery or flowers. For this look, 50 stems of hydrangeas were used with the greens left on them (for fuller coverage).

You’ll also need:
string or wire, clippers, scissors and flower food.
Buy your flowers a day or two ahead of time. Re-cut the stems and then place the flowers in a large, clean bucket full of water with flower food. Keep in a cool, dark place. One hour before the ceremony, add the flowers to the umbrella pole, (or ask a friend or your coordinator to do so!). Group 3-4 stems together and tie or wire them onto the pole.

More helpful hints: Try talking with your local farmer’s market vendors about buying flowers in bulk at a discount rate! If using hydrangeas, pick ones with very firm flowers and petals.

Do it Yourself Monday {Cookie Treats}

This Monday I am sharing a tasty summer treat I found while browsing the blog over at Pen & Paper Flowers Design Studio. This adorable blog has a little something for everyone. When I saw these little ice cream treats I thought they would be the perfect treat for an intimate backyard wedding. If you do choose to serve these ice cold yummies, make sure you have arranged for proper storage and quick service.

WHAT YOU NEED:

chocolate chip cookie recipe (personalize with your favorite recipe)

ice cream (i used what we already had - chocolate chip)

cookie sheet or jelly roll pan FOR THE ICE CREAM (must be able to fit in your freezer)

something with sides is GREAT to help achieve a nice edge

cookie sheet for the cookies

wax paper

1.5" round cookie cutter (or round cutter slightly smaller than the size of your baked mini cookies)

lollipop sticks

WHAT YOU DO:

take out ice cream from the freezer so it can start getting soft

line cookie sheet or jelly roll pan with wax paper (this is for the ice cream)

prepare chocolate chip cookie dough according to recipe...

BUT...replace regular chocolate chips with mini chocolate chips.

form teeny tiny dough balls with your hands & bake on a separate cookie sheet for 3-5 minutes shorter than your normal baking time.

when your first batch of cookies are done and cooling completely...

scoop out softened ice cream onto your prepared, wax paper-lined pan.

smooth out the ice cream with a rubber spatula.

the end result should be a flat 3/4" thick layer of ice cream

cover with wax paper and place in freezer.

continue baking the rest of your cookies.

once all cookies have cooled completely...

save yourself some time by pairing up mini cookies for the final process of "sandwiching" with ice cream.

remove prepared ice cream from freezer.

PREPARE TO WORK QUICKLY

cut a circle of ice cream with round cookie cutter...

remove from wax paper.

place on one mini cookie.

insert lollipop stick. (squish down just a bit)

sandwich together with 2nd cookie.

repeat with about 3-4 more cookies and then place those in the freezer. (i put mine into a gallon sized ziploc freezer bag).

continue to work until the ice cream becomes too soft.

replace ice cream in freezer until it's hardened back up.

repeat process until all cookies have been transformed! *wink*

Do it yourself Monday's {Pink flower favor box}

I love all things girlie and pink! When I cam across these pretty in pink flower favour boxes on A Field Journal, I was so excited to share with our DIY readers.

Materials

{1} Card stock box cut-out. Download the template here and follow the instructions on the template sheet.
{2} Assortment of paper flowers with wired stems in complementary colors, a range of sizes works best, though all should be towards the small end of the spectrum. I found most of the ones used at my local craft store for $1-2 a bunch.
{3} Pen {4} Skeleton leaves, available at craft stores, in the scrapbooking/paper crafting section
{5} Pin {6} Strip of plain white paper, several inches wide
{7} Bone folder {8} Scissors {9} Length of 3/8″ wired ribbon
{10} Glue stick {11} Decorative edge punch

Instructions {1} Using a bone folder and ruler score and fold box cut-out (use the printed template as a reference),
{2} Glue tabs to sides starting with the bottom of the box.
{3} If necessary use the bone folder to apply pressure to tabs as the glue adheres and dries.
{4} Gather a small bunch of paper flowers, forming them into a dome-like arrangement. Secure with a small piece of wire (you can trim a piece from one of the stems).
{5} Trim stems to desired length – remember they’ll be inserted into the box, so they should be relatively short depending on what you want to put inside the box. Using wired ribbon, wrap stems to completely conceal them.
{6} Fasten ribbon with pin.
{7} Punch along the edges of the strip of plain white paper, and write desired message or name of recipient down the center.
{8} Fold top flaps of box as shown.{9} Insert bouquet into opening in box, and affix the white paper banner using a glue stick.

You can thank me later for sharing this amazing DIY cake pop tutorial with you. I found this little project on the blog of the very talented Roxy Cakes. These delectable little treats are just one of five creative DIY tutorials by Roxy of Roxy Cakes. { Check them all out here}!

Tools & Ingredients

10 cups of crumbled cake

1 ½ cups of your favourite frosting

4 cups chocolate wafers

Vegetable oil

Lollipop sticks

Parchment paper

Decorating squeeze bottle

Yields: about 36 cake pops

Cake Pops
1. Crumble a 10” cake into a large bowl. Add 1 ½ cups of frosting to the crumbled cake and gently mix using a wooden spoon.

2. Using your hands, gently roll out 2” round balls and lay on a tray. Be sure not to over mix, to keep the interior cake crumb intact.

3. Freeze for about five minutes.
4. Melt ½ cup of chocolate wafers according to package directions. Starting with one lollipop stick, coat the tip and insert into a cake ball. Repeat with remaining sticks. Refrigerate pops for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the chocolate to set.

5. Melt remaining chocolate wafers and thin with up to 1 tbsp of vegetable oil (1 tbsp per 12oz package of chocolate).
6. Pour the chocolate mixture into a cup or a tall, narrow container to facilitate dipping.
7. Remove cake pops from refrigerator. Dip each cake pop into the melted chocolate mixture and allow excess to drip. When chocolate begins to set (about one minute), insert the base of the stick into a stable piece of Styrofoam.

8. Decorate pops by drizzling with leftover chocolate mixture using a fork or a decorating squeeze bottle.

Pomanders{flower balls/kissing balls} are now being used at wedding receptions and ceremonies in so many different ways. Whether your adorable little flower girls will be carrying these balls down the aisle or if you are using them as centerpieces at your reception, real flowers can be very costly. I just love these budget friendly pomanders made out of scrap book paper of all things.

What You’ll Need

6 -7 Yards of seam binding
3 Sheets of 12′ x 12′ scrap book paper
70 Pins with round heads
1 Styro-foam ball (5′ diameter)
1 Decorative button
Flower shaped craft punch
Needle and thread
Scissors

Directions

1. Use your flower craft punch to punch out 140 flowers. (I know it sounds like a lot, but it’s only two and a half sheet of paper worth of flowers and it goes fast). (see figure l)

2. Poke a pin through the center of one of your paper flowers, fold the petals forward and slide it to the head of the pin. (see figure 2) Add a second flower to the pin, and slide it forward. (see figure 3) You will need to make approximately 70 flowers total to cover your ball.

3. Pin the end of your seam binding to the center of your styro-foam ball ( see figure 4) and begin wrapping it around the ball. (see figure 5)

4. Completely cover the ball and leave a 10 inch tail of seam binding. (see figure 6)

5. Make a loop with the ribbon and secure it to the ball with a pin. (see figure 7)

6. Stick your paper flowers into the styro-foam ball. Repeat until the ball is completely covered with flowers.

7. Make a simple bow (see figure 9) out of the remaining seam binding and attach to the top of the ball at the base of the ribbon handle using a pin.

8. Use a needle and thread to stitch your button down at the top of bow. (see figure 10)

The engagement sessions of Renaissance studios continually leave me speechless. They always seem to find the perfect story to tell about the history behind each couple they are shooting. After referring one of my up coming brides to the...oh so talented team at Renaissance, I saw first hand how they are able to provide such tailored stories about their clients. Before the engagement session each couple is given a questioner to complete for the photographer and no detail of their love story is left untold. From the questioner the couple and the photographer work together to develop a theme that will reflect the style and story of each individual couple. It is so nice to see the time and dedication Renaissance puts into really getting to know the couple they are working with. The E-Session I am showcasing today is a story about a couple who's history dates all the way back to the 4th grade. I just love how Shawn Van Daele captured the story of Camille and Jamie through these creative images.

Do it Yourself Monday's {Candy Bar Favours}

As I was reading through Creature Comforts blog, I found these DIY valentine treats. My wedding obsessed brain say's perfect wedding favour!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

-your favorite chocolate candy bars (either 2.6 oz or 5 oz sizes)

-Color Printer

-Standard printer paper (white, color, or patterned will work) or self-adhesive paper

-Decorative Paper (be creative... you could use: graph paper, contact paper, vellum, magazine pages, etc.)

-Scissors

-Glue (or double-sided tape)

-Pen(s) or Pencil(s) for addressing your labels

DOWNLOADS

{click here} to download print medium sized candy wrapper

{click here} to download large sized candy wrapper

Directions:

1. Buy your favorite candy bars 2.6 oz. or 5 oz. (for this project you will need to select bars that come foil-wrapped with a removable paper label).

2. Carefully remove the paper labels from your candy bars. If stuck, use a dull instrument to gently loosen label.

3. Print the PDF files (above) and cut around each one.

4. Select a decorative paper of your choosing.

5. Cut to size (6" x 5.25" for 2.6 oz bars and 6.75" x 8.25" for 5 oz bars). Wrap each candy bar, securing in back with glue or double-sided tape.

6. Adhere your decorative labels to the front of the candy bars and address them as you wish.

Do it yourself Mondays {Gorgeous Chiffon and Tulle Hair Flowers}

Project Wedding has done it again! These easy to make Chiffon and Tulle hair flowers are such a beautiful and affordable hair accessory for you or your bridesmaids on your wedding day.

Supplies

For this project you will need fabric - we used chiffon and tulle. Yardage needed will vary based on the number and size of flowers, as well as the fabric thickness. You'll also need a piece of paper, a pen, scissors, pins, needle and thread, glass seed beads, and a plain hair clip or comb.

Instructions

Step1

To make a stencil first free hand a rose petal shape and cut out. Then retrace it five times on a larger sheet of paper to create a full flower shape. This will help you get an even pattern. Cut out pattern.

Step 2

Take some fabric and fold it into a square a little larger than your flower pattern. Pin the pattern to fabric and carefully cut it out. Repeat this process until you have enough layers to make a full flower - the number of layers will vary depending on the weight of your fabrics and the size of your flower. The example shown here uses approximately 26 layers.

Step 3

Stack flower cut outs, alternating fabric types and staggering petals. Use a needle and thread to secure them together at the center.

Step 4

Pinch together the center of the flower (from the bottom) and secure with stitches to create volume and give the flower and authentic shape.

Step5

If desired you can sew decorative beads in the inside center of the flower.

This week I am featuring such a pretty do it yourself project. As I was scrolling through A Field Journal's blog, I saw these Gilded Garland table numbers. I just had to share these pretty in pink table numbers.

Supplies:

Color printer
Card stock in color of your choice, 8.5" by 11"
Paper cutter or scissors
Gold acrylic craft paint
Fine paintbrush

Instructions:
1. Table number templates 1-20 are available as .pdfs to download and print {click here}.
2. Print table numbers onto card stock and cut out along provided lines.
3. You can use the table numbers as is or add extra metallic details with gold craft paint and a fine brush. Use the paint to detail the floral border. Be sure to keep the brush relatively dry, especially if you've print your cards on an ink jet printer.

Oh!!! I am totally in love with this Just married banner I saw on Martha Stewart Weddings. What a nice surprise for the newly weds as they return home from their wedding. You decorate their entryway with a blooming branch, regardless of the time of year. Here, a leafless dogwood limb provides the base for a Just Married sign and the added gardenia blossoms that have been wired to the branch add a soft and romantic feel to an already adorable idea. Do it Yourself Monday {Echo chic ring pillow}

This week’s Do it Yourself project is an elegant ring pillow created by Laurie Cinotto of lalalaurie. Laurie has such a great little etsyshop, it's a must visit. I love the echo chic look of this adorable ring pillow. How sweet would this look in the hands of the little guy bringing your rings down the isle. Have fun and please share your creations!

What You’ll Need:

A 5″ x 5″ X 2″ piece of Styrofoam
2 feet ribbon (2″ wide)
3 yards of ribbon (1/4″ wide)
A 6″ x 6″ scrap of fabric
A handful of sphagnum moss
Straight pins
Round-headed corsage pins
A pair of scissors

Instructions

1. Center your fabric face up on the Styrofoam square Fold the fabric
edges over sides of the Styrofoam and secure with straight pins. Wrap
the corners neatly and pin. (see figure 1)

2. Turn your Styrofoam over so the fabric side is down. Take your
sphagnum moss and stretch it out across the top of the Styrofoam. Be sure
that the moss completely covers the surface. (see figure 2)

3. Cut a length of the skinnier ribbon and run it diagonally across the
mossed surface. Attach both ends of the ribbons on the sides of the
Styrofoam using straight pins. Repeat this process to create a diagonal
grid of ribbon on the top of the pillow.

4. Take your corsage pins and stick them into the points where the
ribbons intersect on the pillow top. (see figure 4)

5. Turn the pillow on it’s side and pin the end of the wider ribbon in
the center of the side, using your straight pins. (see figure 5)

6. Wrap the ribbon around all four sides, concealing the fabric edges and
skinny ribbon tails. Pull it tightly as you go and keep the ribbon edges
lined up with the edges of the pillow. (see figure 5)

7. When you pass your starting point, fold under the ribbon tail and pin
it down using your corsage pins. (see figure 6)

8. Trim off any loose moss bits.

9. Cut a 12″ length of the skinnier ribbon and tie it to the corsage pin
in the center of the pillow. Attach your rings by tying a bow.

This masquerade wedding hosted at Canoe Restaurant by Oliver & Bonacini was such a unique and pretty theme for a Halloween wedding. I wanted to share this gorgeous event captured by Ikonica photography in hopes of inspiring some of our 2010 Halloween couples. The bride and groom gave intricately hand crafted masks from Italy to each of their guests as a themed wedding favours. The theme was carried over onto the wedding cake created by the talented team at the Cake Opera. I just can't get over the stunning beauty and detail of the cake. It was truly a work of art! I hope you enjoy the work of all of these very talented local vendors.

Do it Yourself Mondays {Escort Card Picture Frames}

I came across this unique idea to display your escort cards while browsing an online issue of Nonpareil Magazine. Which is one of my new favorite reads by the way. This DIY project is a great way to add drama to an empty wall or any hall way of your wedding venue. Picture walls are all the trend in home design right now. Why not carry the trend over to your wedding venue for a escort frame wall?

Supplies

picture frame

cork pannel

ribbon, 1.5" - 2" wide

pearl head sewing pins

fabric of choice

clear adhesive spray glue

cutting blade

staple gun

Instructions

Step one

remove backing of frame so you can lay it flat. Place the frame face down and measure the size of cork panel you will need. With the cutting blade, cut the cork panel to fit the frame.

Step Two

Select a fabric to complement your wedding colour scheme or theme and cut it two inches larger then the cork panel on each side. wrap the fabric around the cork panel and staple gun it to the back of the cork board. Make sure to fold the corners as a mitered edge to keep it looking neat.

Step Three

Trim the edges of the frame with a lace ribbon or ribbon of your choice. Cut the edges at a 45 degree angle so the will line up nicely in the corners of the frame. Secure the ribbon with pearl pins or clear adhesive spray glue.

Step Four

Remove hardware from backing of frame if you wish to leave frame lying flat on a receiving table. If you are hanging leave hardware in place. Pin escort card of your choice to corked frame with pearl end pins. rem

Our Weddings {Faisal and Rida}

I would like to start by thanking two of the most welcoming and kind families I have yet to have the pleasure of working with. To the Qadir and Hadi family thank you so very much for your hospitality and for including us in the festivities celebrating the union of Faisal and Rida. The charming couple hosted their wedding reception at the prestigious Ciociaro Club in Windsor Ontario. The already stunning ballroom was transformed into an fresh, elegant and almost fairytale gala. Designs by Diane used a soft ivory palate of linens and florals to compliment the vibrant and breathtaking coloured saris of Faisal and Ridas guests. The beautiful Rida was absolutely radiant and a dream to work with. I have yet to see a bride so relaxed and easy going on her wedding day. Only as she was about to enter the ballroom filled with 1100 friends and family did she say to me, I think I am getting butterflies. She was so sweet! Do it ourself Mondays {Leaf Boutonniere}

This Do it Yourself project might be the simplest project that I have posted to date. Once Wed is a great place for organic DIY projects and this one I had to share with our readers. This is also a very good way to lower that floral budget. With boutonniere's costing any where between ten and twenty dollars depending on the flowers you select, this way be a project worth trying. I envision these bout's at an outdoor backyard wedding accompanied by wild flower bouquets and mason jar centerpieces.

What You’ll Need: (to make a leaf boutonniere)

Alphabet craft punches

2 Small leaves per boutonniere (a thick,but small leathery leaf works best. I used small rhododendron leaves for this project)

12 – 15 inches ribbon per boutonniere (1/4″ wide)

Thin floral wire ( approximately 1 foot per boutonniere)

Floral corsage tape

Scissors

Wire cutters

Directions

1. Begin by collecting two leaves for each boutonniere. Wipe them off with a damp cloth and let them dry.

2. Slide your leaf into the punch, and punch out your letter. (If you turn the punch upside down, it’s easier to see where to position it) (see figure 1)

3. After punching out your letter carefully slide it out of the punch.

4. Cut 2 lengths of floral wire approximately 6 inches long.

5. Hold your leaf, face down and run your wire horizontally through the back, towards the bottom of the leaf. (see figure 2)

6. Fold the wire ends down. Be careful not to tear your leaf when you fold the wire. (see figure 3)

7. At the stem of the leaf begin wrapping with your floral tape. Spin the leaf and wire in your fingers, wrap and pull the tape tightly as you work your way down. The tape gets sticky as you pull. When you reach the end of the wires, tear the tape and smooth down the end. If your tape job is a little lumpy, wrap another layer over it to tidy it up. (see figure 4)

8. Take one leaf, slightly smaller than your monogrammed leaf, and wire and tape just like you did with the first leaf in steps 5 – 7. (see figure 5)

9. Place the two leaves side by side, with the smaller leaf on the left. Wrap a layer floral tape around the two stems. (see figure 6)

10. Trim the wire ends so they are about 1.5 inches long. (see figure 6)

11. Cut a length of ribbon 12-15 inches long.

12. Place a ribbon tail approximately 4 inches long at the base of the two leaves. (see figure 7)

13. Run the ribbon down to the end of the taped wires and begin wrapping the ribbon upwards around the taped section. (see figure 8)

14. When you get to the base of the leaves, tie a knot with both ribbon tails to secure, then tie a small bow to finish it off. (see figure 9 and 10)

15. Trim your ribbon ends at an angle.

Like most boutonnieres, these are best made the day before, or morning of your wedding. To keep them fresh, place them in a Tupperware container under a layer of damp paper towels. Seal the lid, and place in the refrigerator.

You can also use the monogrammed leaves to embellish napkins, or trim your favor boxes. Just attach them using ribbon. You can use your own monogram, or your personalize them with your guests’ initials.

What it costs:

Leaves are free! (If they come from your yard)

Alphabet craft punch set: $40 for the set, or you can buy individual letters for $5 – $10 a piece

Striped ribbon - $.80 a foot

Florist wire – pennies a strand

Floral tape – $1 – $2 a roll.

Our Weddings {Faisal and Rida are getting married}

We are off to Windsor for the weekend. We are
coordinating the wedding of Faisal Qadir and
Rida Hadi. A guest list of eleven hundred at
Ciociaro Club, one of the most largest and most
stunning halls in Windsor Ontario. We will be busy
but we are looking forward to every minute of the
festivities.

Do it yourself Mondays { Fourtune cookie favours}

I saw these adorable little favors while browsing one of my favorite sites, Once wed.com. This project is truly DIY on a dime. You can make these favours for less than 10 cents a cookie. To add to the personalization of your wedding find the perfect paper for your colour scheme or wedding theme. What a great project for you and the girls!

What You’ll Need
Decorative or Scrapbook paper (not too thick, similar to a text weight,
not cardstock)
White text weight paper
Double faced tape
A pencil
A round plastic lid to use as a template (approximately four to five
inches in diameter) or a extra large circle craft punch
A pair of scissors
Computer and printer

Directions:

1. Begin by using a plastic lid as a template to trace circles on your
decorative paper. A 12” square piece of paper yields approximately 9
circles. Cut out your circles using your scissors. If you have an
extra large circle craft punch, that works well too. (see figure 1)

2. Fold a circle in half with the pattern side in. Make a crease (at
arrow A) along the folded edge. (see figure 2)

3. Open your circle, and turn it pattern side out.

4. Turn your circle so the crease you made in step 2 is vertical. Fold
the circle in in half horizontally, pattern side out, rounded side down,
Do NOT crease. (see figure 3)

Hold the half circle on the bottom, ( where arrow B points in figure 3)
between your thumb and index finger. Use the index finger from your
other hand to push in the middle of the folded side of the circle at the
crease. (where arrow C points in figure 3).

As you push in, the top corners will start to turn up.

Continue to hold the half circle and use your other hand to pull the
corners in until they nearly meet and form the cookie shape.

If your cookie doesn’t want to stay folded, use a tiny piece of double
stick tape to keep the halves together. (at arrow in figure 6)

Compose your fortunes on your computer and print them out on a standard
sheet of printer paper using a nine point font. The fortunes can be a
simple note for the guests such as ”We’re so fortunate to know you.
Thanks for being here today”. Keep the fortunes just a sentence or two
long.

Cut the fortunes into small slips of paper approximately 1/2 inch high by
two to three inches long. (see figure 7)

Tuck the fortune into one of the open ends of the cookie. (see figure 8)

Display in a bowl or on a tray for your guests.

You may struggle with the first one, but after folding a couple of
cookies, you will have it mastered.

Do it yourself Mondays {Carnation Centerpieces}

Not only is this a cost effective centerpiece but it is also a very simple DIY Project. These stunning flower balls would look so beautiful on a long rectangular reception table draped in luxurious linens and paired with as many illuminating candles as you can possibly fit on the table. Perfect for a bride on a budget!

Instructions:

1} Select a base of your choice, possibly an accent color of silver, gold or glass.

2} Top it off with an Oasis floral foam sphere, soaking it for 45 minutes, then draining on a paper towel.
3} Trim the carnation stems and remove the leaves. Insert them into the oasis. Making sure you evenly distribute the wait of the flowers.

Voila! A simple and affordable centerpiece that will make a beautiful centerpiece for any event. You could us several different height of bases and make a trio of the centerpiece for a more dramatic effect. Thank you to Eddie Ross for this stylish and budget savvy idea!

Thanks to the ladies at Inspired Bride for sharing this adorable Save the Date. Couples seem to be having such long engagements these days that I always recommend my brides sending a save the date. Below I am sharing with you some etiquette tips on what to consider when sending a save the date.

Save the Date Etiquette

Save the Date Cards are announcements that inform your guests of your future wedding in order to keep your special day free. They are essential in the following situations: if many of your guests are traveling to your wedding, your wedding takes place on or around a holiday, you are planning a faraway destination wedding, or your wedding will take place in a seasonally busy or tourist locale, where the flights and hotels perhaps book up early.

They are generally sent at least 6 months prior to your wedding but, if you are planning a destination wedding, for example Hawaii it is strongly recommended that you send them 12 months in advance if not longer. For seasonally busy and tourist locales or on or around a holiday it is best to send them 9-12 months in advance. Your guests will then have ample time to make all the necessary arrangements needed to be a part of your special celebration and may even extend it into a vacation of their own.

Use your imagination, Save the Date Cards are not meant to be formal. There are many design options available. You can have them match your wedding invitations, magnets, brochure style, post card size, multiple layers, booklet style, you can add a picture of you and your fiancé, or embellishments to add a personal touch.

Here are some guidelines on what your cards should state, your names, date of wedding, city or town and state of where wedding will take place. Also, because Save the date Cards are a recent trend and many that have not attended a wedding recently may mistaken them for the actual invitation be sure to include something along the lines of, “Invitation to follow”, “Invitation and details to follow”, “Invitation will follow” this is usually placed at the bottom of the card. If you have a wedding website don’t forget to include the address for your guests to view.

If you need to keep your guest list to a minimum, make a list of close family and friends whom you want to make sure will be able to attend and mail them a Save the Date Card, you do not need to send Save the Date Cards to everyone you are inviting but, every guest that receives a Save the Date Card must also receive an invitation.

We recommend providing your guests with additional information to help facilitate their planning such as airline, car rental, hotel, information on things to see and do in the area and surrounding areas, special events, theatrical shows etc. Go the extra mile and acquire group discounts by calling specific companies and seeing if they offer group discounts.

Do it Yourself Mondays {Card Box}

A great way to personalize you wedding and discreetly add to the theme of your wedding is by making your own card box. I just fell in love with this DIY card box I saw on Once wed.

Supplies:
Three round boxes (a small, medium and large)
One roll of paper gift wrap
Mod Podge Glue
Four yards of ribbon
An assortment of trims (artificial flowers, velvet leaves, etc)

Tools:
Small foam paint brush
Pencil
Ruler
Exacto Knife
Scissors
Glue Gun

Directions:

1} Lay a sheet of your wrapping paper print side down. Place your boxes on the paper (bottom side down) and trace around each box using a pencil. (see figure one)

2} Carefully cut out each circle. Measure the height of each box, and cut a strip of paper as wide as the

height of your box and long enough to wrap completely around the

circumference.

3} Turn all three boxes over, so the bottom of box becomes the top of your “cake tier”. You won’t be needing the lids to the two smaller boxes, just the lid for the largest box which will be the bottom tier of your paper cake. Before you begin gluing, be sure to protect your work surface. Mod Podge

can be messy.

4} Apply an even layer of Mod Podge to the top of one your cake tiers using a small sponge brush. (see figure two) Carefully place your paper circle on the top of the box (in the glue) (see figure three). Smooth out

any air bubbles. Don’t worry about small wrinkles. They should flatten out as the glue dries.

5} Glue the paper circles on the tops of the two remaining cake tiers. Use the same gluing technique to adhere the paper to the sides of each cake tier. As you wrap the paper around, it’s more important that the

paper lines up with the top of the tier rather than the bottom. The bottom edge will be concealed with ribbon later.

6}When all three tiers are covered in paper, brush a thin layer of Mod Podge on each tier’s papered surface. This will give the cake a subtle luster and smooth down any edges you may have missed. If you would like a

richer surface, apply several coats of Mod Podge. Be sure allow at least fifteen minutes for the Mod Podge to dry between coats.

7}On the top of the largest tier, as close as you can get to the edge, use a Sharpie Marker to draw a “slot” large enough for a card to drop through. (see figure four) CAREFULLY cut out the slot using an exacto

knife. It can be helpful to use a small metal cork-backed ruler as a guide when you cut.

8} Decide how you would like to have each cake tier positioned, then use your

hot glue gun to glue them into place. ( Be very careful not to burnyourself when handling your glue gun.)

At the bottom of each tier, wrap and glue down a length of ribbon. (see figure five) Glue a ribbon along the edge of bottom cake tier’s lid. This lid becomes the bottom of your paper cake and makes the deposited cards accessible.

9}Decorate your cake! (see figure six) Select your flowers, leaves and trims, and use your hot glue gun to glue them into place. You can place a traditional cake topper on the top of your cake, or create your

own.

Budget:

3 paper boxes – $14

1 roll of wrapping paper – $4

4 yards of ribbon $10

Small bottle of Mod Podge $3

Trims and flowers $0 (Use up those little bits of this and that you’ve

got stashed in your crafting supplies)

Total Cost – $31

If you haven't had a chance to log into the blog at style me pretty lately, you missed a must see stylish local wedding, hosted at Canoe in Toronto Ontario. This is an amazing venue if you are looking for a modern intimate space for up to 60 guests. The wedding we are featuring today was a modern and swanky affair and the stunning images you see below were captured by their photographer Kevin Charlie. I particularly love their choice of having a macaroon tower by Bobette & Belle as a sweet treat for their guests to enjoy. The room was filled with satin pillows and a palate of soft yet vibrant pastel colours, which were a compliment to the branches, moss, orchids and birdcages scattered around the event to complete the couples vision of an enchanted forest themed wedding

Do it youself Mondays {Rustic Centerpiece}

I suggested this do it yourself rustic centerpiece project that I saw at once wed to a bride that I helped plan a fall wedding at Grey Silo in Waterloo. It is an open rustic space with an amazing stone fireplace as the focal point of the room. She instantly fell in love and the theme of her wedding was set.

What you will need:

· slice of wood ( 11′ diam x 2.5′ h)
· glass cylinder vases ( 11′h, 9′h, 6′h x 3.5′ diam) you can find these at
Michael’s Crafts, · pillar candles ( 3 varying heights to fit in each vase)
· ribbon & yarn
· fabric, wood, or dried flowers
· double sided tape
· scissors

Instructions:

1. Cut 3 pieces of ribbon/yarn (one arms length per piece). Wrap each vase with ribbon/yarn. Attach ends of ribbon/yarn with double sided tape to surface of vase. I chose to wrap with a knobby yarn, satin ribbon, and grosgrain ribbon to create a variety of textures. I also wrapped the ribbon/yarn at different heights on each vase to create more interest.

2. Attach fabric/wood/dried flower to a piece of ribbon and tie around tallest vase.

3. Insert pillar candles into vases. arrange cluster of vases on wood slice, keeping the sides with the tape facing the center.

4. Arrange fabric/wood/dried flowers on wood slice around the vase cluster. Light the candles and enjoy your rustically elegant centerpiece!

FYI: The wooden flowers shown are no longer available for purchase. I would suggest creating fabric flowers or heading to a local craft store and picking up some dried botanicals. If you are interested in creating these centerpieces in large numbers, I would suggest ordering the vases in bulk.
